I am a fourth year Ph.D. student at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

My advisors are Scott Hudson and Robert Kraut. My current research looks at ways to improve communication technology to decrease interruption cost and facilitate better attention management.

I am currently collaborating with Jennifer Lai at IBM T.J. Watson Research Lab. During my undergraduate years at Berkeley, I worked with Jennifer Mankoff and Anind Dey, who are both at HCII now, on Ambient/Peripheral Displays. Before Graduate School, I spent some time at FXPAL with Elizabeth Churchill, who is now at Yahoo! research, on a public, interactive display. During the summer of 2005, I worked with Ken Wood at MSRC in a peripheral display supporting tablet notes.
