INTEGRATION OF NL-SOAR IN THE TACAIR DOMAIN

Integration of NL-Soar in the Tacair Domain

The Soar/IFOR (Intelligent FORces) research group is developing intelligent automated agents for tactical air (TacAir) simulation. The ultimate goal of this project is to develop automated pilots whose behavior in simulated engagements is indistinguishable from that of human pilots.

Research groups located at the University of Southern California Information Sciences and University of Michigan Artificial Intelligence Laboratory are responsible for developing artificial intelligent agents for military air missions including: beyond visual range air-to-air engagements, air-to-ground, air-to-surface, and anti-armor helicopter missions.

The NL-Soar research group at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science is responsible for providing the IFOR agents with Natural Language communication abilities.

The Soar cognitive architecture provides the intelligence, while the ModSAF simulator simulates vehicle dynamics, provides a network interface, and has a graphical user interface for scenario creation and execution.
