The Graphics Deli

Welcome to the Graphics Deli

The Graphics Deli is a part of The Robotics Institute within the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Established in 1983, the deli produces the visual materials used by members of the Robotics Institute for presentations, publications, and research. From catalogs and annual reports, to videos, photographs and multimedia presentations, we are your one stop shop for all your audio visual needs. We are available to help faculty, staff and graduate students, with projects of all types.
The Deli is mainly a Macintosh based operation. We have a DIY station set up for scanning slides and negatives, and also a flatbed scanner for photos, flat art and OCR scanning. New to the system is a 35mm film recorder with a postscript RIP that you can que to like a regular printer.

Requesting Services

The Graphics Deli is part of the Robotics Institute. Members of the Robotics Institute can request services free of charge with materials billed at cost as used. Other divisions of SCS can use the services of the Graphics Deli, but time will be billed at $50 per hour/per person plus materials, with a minimum 1/2 hour charge. All charges must be paid for with either an authorized university charge number, or by check made out to CMU. To use a charge number, the Principal investigator of the account must sign one of our charge slips, or send confirming e-mail to the service provider BEFORE work can begin.
Work is scheduled on a first come first serve basis, with preference given to RI faculty members. Since there is only one of us in each job position providing many services, scheduling can become tight at times. Please do not wait till the last minute to request jobs. In this age of modern technology, we too rely on the whims of machines to be up and running when we need them.
