How to Apply
Students may apply to the Ph.D. Program in Algorithms,
Combinatorics and Optimization through any of the three participating
departments. For this purpose an application form should be obtained
from the Admissions Secretary in one of three departments listed
below. In filling out the application, the student should indicate a
preference for the program by writing clearly on top of the front page
of the application form. Applicants will be selected for admission by
the ACO faculty in consultation with committees in each home
department. Financial support for students admitted into this program
is available under the same conditions as for the other Ph.D. Programs
at CMU.

Note: Applications through Computer Science are handled in a
different manner. Students apply to the regular CS PhD program, and
if admitted, may choose a "CS with Specialization in ACO" (essentially,
a CS degree with a minor in ACO) or may even do a combined CS+ACO degree
(the union of the two requirements). Students who apply to the CS PhD
are welcome to also apply to the ACO program through Math or TSB.
