Background

On Feb. 25, 2004, William H. Gates will be visiting CMU as part of a 5-campus (UIUC, CMU, Cornell, MIT, Harvard) tour. He will be on campus only during the morning. He will give a seminar from 10:00 to 11:15 in Rangos Ballroom, tentatively titled Software Breakthroughs: Solving the Toughest Problems in Computer Science.

Due to limited seating capacity, only people who have requested and received permission to attend will be allowed in Rangos. McConomy Auditorium will serve as an overflow room with a live video feed.

Space is limited for this event. We had three times more requests for admission than could be accomodated.

Notifications for faculty, staff, and graduate students was sent by email on Friday, Feb. 20 at 1:00 pm. Both those who could be admitted and those who could not were notified.
