How to Compute Like a Grad Student (1997)

Speaker:Darrell Kindred, CS grad student
Date:Tuesday, August 26, 1997
Time:11:30am-12:15pm
Place:Wean Hall 5409

I'll give a brief, unofficial overview of the CMU SCS computing facilities and electronic culture from a grad-student perspective. I'll talk about local customs and useful resources for getting a running start in our somewhat quirky environment, and I'll try to answer any questions.

Further information

See the web version of this talk, which includes details I didn't have time to present in the talk, as well as many pointers to good sources of getting-started information. If you notice any missing instructions or have other suggestions, please let me know.

Related IC Events

At 10:30am (just before my talk), Clauss Strauch of SCS Facilities will present the official introduction to the computing facilities.

There may be a talk about avoiding Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) at CMU later in the IC. I strongly recommend attending--this is serious stuff.
