Midterm exam study guidelines
1. Material to be examined:
1.1. From the textbook, 3rd Edition.
- Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 8: all sections
- Chapter 5: up to and including 5.6
- Chapter 9: all except 9.2
- Chapter 10, 13: all sections
1.2. Foils
Also, all the instructor lecture foils that are on the web.
2. Old midterm exams
Here are two old midterm exams: Fall 2000, Fall 2001. Some include questions based on material that we will cover
later in the semester - just ignore those!
3. Additional information:
The exam questions will be very similar to the exercises in
the textbook, so practice by answering as many of them as you can!
All-paper aids allowed (open books, open notes), but no
laptops or calculators or PDAs.
