I'm sorry to hear you've been having trouble running the instructions on
MERGE-AI!
Alternate procedure:
- Try double-clicking "Declarative.ppt"
- If this succeeds, choose "View Show from the "Slide Show" menu, and
watch the instruction. (Make sure your sound is turned on)
- If this fails, go into directory ppview97
- Double-click ppview32.exe
- If step 3 succeeded, open Declarative.ppt from inside ppview32.
- If step 3 failed (you may get a message saying your system is
missing a .dll file), you will need to either install
Microsoft Powerpoint
Viewer, or view a version of the tutorial online. The online
version does not have sound, so it is preferable to install
Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer if possible.
- To install Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer, go to the Microsoft
Download Center and follow the instructions there. Microsoft
Powerpoint Viewer is a free product. After
installing Powerpoint Viewer, you can use launch-instruction.bat as you
did originally.
- If installation failed or was not possible, click here
to read an online (html) version of the tutorial.
Error messsage:
"I'm getting a message that some .dll file is missing!"
- Unfortunately, this is a problem I didn't forsee. Every computer
I tested on was set up with this microsoft system file. Fortunately, it
can be remedied by following the alternate procedure above.
Bug:
"I can watch the presentation, and all the sound works fine, except for
the beep. The beep doesn't play correctly."
- I have a fix for this. It requires a download which is
up to 10 MB, though, so you might prefer to ignore this bug.
- Click here to go through the process
of installing this fix.
If you still can't get it to work, email
me .
